We here at NISSA wanted to do something more to support our families affected by SIDS and decided to hold a memorial butterfly release at our location in Seattle last year. It was a great success. Our families loved having the butterfly and its transformation as a symbol of courage and hope. The grieving process is never truly complete, but we can learn to appreciate the small things in life and it does get easier.
Because of this success, we have decided to hold another event in Seattle, as well as two other events in other cities in Washington State. Locations are still being determined; if you would like to vote for your city to hold a Butterfly Release please visit our Facebook Page and let us know!
May 11- Evergreen Arboretum, Everett WA
July 13- Seattle Family Event at the Good Shepherd Center
Survivor Mud Run
The Survivor Mud Run is put on every year and a portion of the proceeds benefit NISSA. This race is designed to "test your ability to run, climb, jump, crawl, and muscle your way through the most extreme 5k Mud Run created! As a Survivor you will have to conquer whatever obstacles get in your way and test your all around toughness, strength, stamina, fitness, and mental determination. Upon your victory you will have earned your place in the Survivor world. Then you can celebrate with friends, food, music, beer and a muddy fist in the air!"
This year's event will be held on June 8, 2013 at Remlinger Farms in Carnation, WA.
Visit the Survivor Mud Run's website to register!
Sage's Memorial Dash is NISSA's way of staying connected with our families in Eastern Washington. This no pressure, fun family day is a great way to connect with other families in the area. The morning usually begins with a kids 100 yard dash followed by an adult run.
